Narva Center for Community Integration Initiative

Welcome!

Office

The Tallinn office of the Center for Community Integration Initiative (CCII) came into excistence in 1997 with the help of the "PHARE" fund of Tallinn.
In 1998, the Center for Community Integration Initiative was opened in Narva, the third-largest city in Estonia, where need is great due to its demographic make-up. Narva, which lies on the Russian border, is a town of 76000 people, but only twenty percent of these hold Estonian Citizenship. Additional eighteen percent are citizens of the CIS, while sixty-two percent are Resident Aliens in Estonia with citizenship in no state.

Activities

The need for integration activities in Narva is great, if this city and ist inhabitants are ever to actively participate in the government and society of Estonia.

So the goal of the center from the start has been to initiate and support activities which foster the integration of ethnic and linguistic minorities into the society of Estonia.
Such activities include:

  • Courses of Estonian language and literature for members of other ethnic groups in Estonia
  • Legal and psychological aid in gaining Estonian residency Permits and Estonian Citizenship for resident aliens
  • Work with youth groups
  • Youth camps for young people from all over Estonia and from other countries
